I believe that the problem was not due to the system. The confusion I believe came when people called the system after receiving a Call from the system. This caused another alert from their address associated with their telephone number.

So the system worked as it should. Further instruction should, and will, be given on how it works. Once folks understand that calling the system number will generate a new alert, the issue will be solved!

Test messages need to start and end in “This is a Test” to avoid confusion.

Folks with radios should immediately monitor channel 6 and LISTEN for further updates. Command staff a d whoever is reporting the event should be given priority on air band traffic. Person on scene should continually update those responding to pertinent information. This includes what is the event, what is burning, how large, where burning, wind effects, is it in or approaching the forest, etc., so responding staff may have a jump on what equipment is needed.

We will review system capabilities and use procedures at the next meeting.
